Eagle Project Title: Warmth is What We Need
Beneficiary: One Warm Coat
Details: Jonathan's project name was "Warmth Is What We Need" and benefitted the One Warm Coat organization. The shelter of a coat is a basic need. The simple gift of a coat can save lives. He collected coats, blankets, gloves, hats, scarves and sweatshirts. One Warm Coat is a mission providing free coats to those in need while promoting volunteerism and environmental sustainability. The impact of the economic crisis created by Covid-19 increased the demand for coats in most communities by an average of fifty percent. Jonathan advertised, organized drop-off sites, collection bins, and distributed flyers to neighborhoods as the first phase of his project. He then collected organized, cleaned, tagged, and delivered the 506 clothing items to One Warm Coat.
Eagle Project Title: Cemetery Bumpers
Beneficiary: Sunnyside Pioneer Cemetery
Details: Reuben found the parking area of the local Pioneer Cemetery was run-down & in need of help. He decided that he wanted to improve the parking area to make it much better for visitors & the neighbors.
His project involved replacing the very old, destroyed parking bumpers with new ones. The new bumpers give visual reminders of where visitors can park appropriately & safely. (This helps to keep visitors off of neighbor's property.)
A large part of the parking area was overgrown with brush & branches. Reuben also coordinated the clearing of the brush & branches to make way for the parking lot.
Eagle Project Title: String art for santuary
Beneficiary: Beautiful Savior Church
Details: Nick's Eagle Project brought new life to the worship stage at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Happy Valley. The decorative oak wall is the backdrop display for the worship team. An elaborate undertaking of planning, designing, construction, and significant coordination on design and scope went into his project. In a 16 hour labor of meticulous work, the word "Worship" was displayed in string art, with the letter "W" alone requiring 148 yards of string.
Eagle Project Title: Clothing Bank Shelving
Beneficiary: Milwaukie Lutheran Church
Details: Gabe's Eagle Project reflects his heart for helping others in his community. He constructed six shelves for Milwaukie Lutheran Church. The shelves serve a dual purpose. They provided much needed space for donated clothing for the church's clothes closet and for toy donations to be distributed to children in need this holiday season.
Eagle Project Title: HOA Trail
Beneficiary: Happy Valley Heights HOA
Details: Michael found a safety project to do as his Eagle Project. The HOA Trail was made for a safer alternative for walkers over the busy roadway.
The trail consists of a gravel beginning then changes from gravel to bark chips. The reason for the material change was because of the different inclines & declines that the trail takes along the way. The trail also consists of two small bridges that never lift you from the ground. Overall, it is a lovely trail & Michael is very proud of this project.
Eagle Project Title: El Puente Garden Benches
Beneficiary: El Puente Elementary School
Details: Max decided to do his Eagle Project for El Puente Elementary School. He attended El Puente when he was younger & wanted to give back to the school. It is a bilingual school & is combined with Milwaukie Elementary School.
Originally, Max wanted to clean up the garden area at the school & build some benches to add to the garden area. But due to Covid-19 restrictions, no access to the school facility was allowed. Since he wasn’t able to enter the school, he decided to make benches for the playground area instead.
Max worked with his father to make sample benches beforehand until he found a design that he was happy with. Once he acquired the needed materials, he hosted work parties at this house & in his garage to complete the benches. Max directed the Scouts & other workers on how to build the benches.
Once the benches were completed, Max found out found out that the janitorial staff had cleaned up the garden area & the restrictions had changed so Max was excited to be able to place the benches in a nice garden area in the end after all.
Eagle Project Title: Face Masks in the Face of Illness
Beneficiary:
Details: Daphnie used some strong dedication and leadership skills to power through when Covid hit. She wasn't going to let some virus kill her dream. She made the best of a bad situation by making face mask for people in need during this strange covid time.
Eagle Project Title: Flag Retirement
Beneficiary: Clackamas Fire station 5
Details: Kalian retired American flags for his Eagle Project. Not an easy task during covid times; very impressive.
Eagle Project Title: Parish Furnishings Repair & Improvements
Beneficiary: Sacred Heart Church
Details: Clayton contacted his church to see if there were any projects that he could organize & do as his Eagle Project. He decided to make something that will be helpful for reservations, weddings, & receptions at the church hall.
Clayton planned a way to repurpose an old school cabinet to turn it into a new service cart to use in the hall during weddings & receptions. Then Clayton coordinated a group of workers to carry out the needed work on the cabinet. (The cabinet top was destroyed & needed to be replaced; the top & sides were refinished; & the inside of the cabinet got a nice coat of bright white paint.)
There was also an old park bench outside on the back porch of the rectory that was in desperate need of refinishing. So, Clayton also had some workers work on that bench also. They disassembled the parts; prepped & repainted the metal legs; then sanded & refinished the wooden slats before reassembling all the parts. Now it should last for many more years to come.
Eagle Project Title: Feminine Hygiene Products Donation
Beneficiary: West Linn Food Pantry
Details: Anya's Eagle project was to collect donations of feminine hygiene products to be donated to a food pantry. These products aren’t covered by SNAP or WIC and a lot of food pantries don’t offer them. Anya wanted to collect enough donations to last a food pantry three months and hoped to find a sponsor who could continue the donations after her project was completed.
Anya worked with the West Linn Food Pantry, who rarely had enough feminine hygiene products to offer them to the public. She surveyed the patrons of the food pantry to determine the amount needed for a 3-month timeframe.
Anya directed her volunteers to planned areas to go door-to-door with bags & flyers asking for donations. A few days later, the volunteers returned to pick up bags of donations that had been left outside for the scouts. Anya’s group ended up collecting more products than her original goal. Enough donations were collected to last the food pantry for about 7-8 months.
Anya was also able to find a sponsor to keep donations coming to the West Linn Food Pantry. She contacted PERIOD.org, which was founded by two 16-year-olds. They donate feminine hygiene products to 49 states and over 50 countries. They were very excited to work with the food pantry and will continue to help them for years to come.
Eagle Project Title: Accessibility Ramp in Aggregate
Beneficiary: Sunnyside Foursquare Church
Details: Elisha wanted to do a Project for the place where he started his Scouting career. Sunnyside Foursquare Church is the Charter Organization of the Cub Scout Pack where Elisha started Scouting with Pack 293. Elisha had noticed that the church needed more wheelchair accessibility. (There was 1 ramp, but it was often blocked by vehicles.)
So, Elisha asked the church if he could remove part of a sidewalk to install another wheelchair accessibility ramp in a separate location at the church. The church liked his idea, approved his project, & is very happy with the finished ramp. It is a very helpful addition to their facility.
Eagle Project Title: Cat Stuff
Beneficiary: House of Dreams in Portland, OR
Details: Jack wanted to do a project that would help animals. Jack's uncle had recently received some help from a cat shelter for a feral cat problem. Jack thought that he could help that cat shelter out.
Jack checked with the cat shelter that helped his uncle & found that they didn't need any help. But they knew of another shelter, House of Dreams, that could use some help. When the 2nd shelter was contacted, they were super happy to receive some help. So, Jack did his project for House of Dreams which is a ‘no kill’ cat shelter.
The original plan was for making 3 cat beds, 3 cat pillows, & 1 cat tree. Jack's group was able to make several additional items ending up with 4 cat beds, 18 cat pillows, & the cat tree. Additionally, Jack organized helpers to clean up the backyard area & the storage shed at the shelter.
Jack's project was made tougher in that it had to be completed during the Covid-19 pandemic & a city-wide lockdown.
Eagle Project Title: Bulletin Boards for Gladstone Community Garden
Beneficiary: Gladstone Garden Association
Details: Justin found this project by speaking with the District Eagle Chair. The beneficiary had reached out to the Eagle Chair for assistance in getting some bulletin boards placed near the entrances to their garden.
It turns out that Justin was already familiar with the garden property. The garden property directly boarders the park where Justin played soccer for many years when he was younger. Due to the number of times that his team sent a ball over the fence, he felt obliged to help.
The project that was requested was to build bulletin boards similar to some that are located at a nearby park. Justin viewed the sample bulletin boards then was tasked with figuring out how to replicate them.
He ended up building & installing 2 bulletin boards at the garden. Each one consists of a bulletin board on support legs with a roof covering over the top. They are anchored in the ground by cement around each support leg. Almost all of the cutting & assembly was done by Scouts with hand tools -- including the 4x6 lumber.
Eagle Project Title: Stage Carts for the Nutz-n-Boltz Theater
Beneficiary: Nutz-n-Boltz Theater Company
Details: Matthew found a project that meant a lot to him as he was pursuing 1 of his hobbies. He has participated as an actor in some of the presentations put on by the Nutz-n-Boltz Theater & was able to see the need first hand.
The theater uses the Grange Hall in Boring, OR for their performances. But the Grange wants to maintain the historical value of the building so that limits the available areas that can be used for storage. This leads to some storage issues for the theater supplies like lights, wood, & other stage supplies.
Matthew’s project consisted of building 2 large, rolling Storage Carts on casters that can be rolled underneath the stage. One cart has a raised bar over it so stage lights can be mounted on it for storage. The other cart has some walls on it (like a box) so that spare wood & stage supplies can be stored in it.
Side wall guides were also added under the stage to keep the carts rolling straight & to prevent the carts from getting hung up on the support legs of the stage.
Eagle Project Title: My Father's House Shed Foundation & Floor
Beneficiary: My Father's House Family Shelter in Gresham, OR
Details: This project is a tag-along to a previous Eagle Project done by our Troop. My Father's House had someone else that was going to take care of the concrete work for a Shed that was previously built for them, but that concrete work never got done. Forrest looked into a few possible projects but selected this one.
So Forrest decided that he wanted to take care of that concrete work for My Father's House by getting the Shed on a permanent Foundation & Floor. This will make the Shed much more useful for storing things & to prevent weather related damage to the Shed.
The 12 ft x 16 ft wooden Shed was first 'moved' by rolling it on rollers & boards to temporarily get it out of the way. Then dirt was removed, gravel was brought in, & forms were set to prepare for the Foundation & Floor. Then the concrete was poured, worked, & finished. After several weeks of 'curing' for the concrete, then the Shed was rolled back over onto its permanent base & anchored in place.
Eagle Project Title: Bridge House Safety Upgrades
Beneficiary: Bridge City Community Church in Milwaukie, OR
Details: Ryan chose to work with Bridge House (at Bridge City Community Church) for his project. There were 2 specific safety hazards that he wanted to address.
First, there was a parking lot curb area that was a trip hazard between the wheelchair ramp in the sidewalk & the parking lot. Ryan planned, built, & installed a pipe handrail just behind the curb. It was painted a high-visibility yellow color so that everyone would notice it without running into it.
Second, he wanted to help with the hazard of the stairs down to the basement. The stairs were slippery when wet & it was tough to see the stairs. Ryan's fix for the stairs was to get them painted with a textured, non-skid paint, then the edge of each stair was painted with high-visibility yellow paint as well.
Eagle Project Title: Creekside Rehabilitation & Nursing Project
Beneficiary: Creekside Rehabilitation & Nursing
Details: The residents at Creekside Rehabilitation & Nursing have enjoyed watching birds & having birdhouses in the backyard area. But through the years, many of the birdhouses broke or were broken due to storm damage to trees. Nolan decided that he wanted to build many new birdhouses for them, each & every one being different. Then they would also be used as an art project for the residents by having them do the painting. Nolan also decided to add a new bench for the residents to have outside to be able to sit & watch the birds.
The birdhouses were created by recycling some cedar fence boards each being unique in its design. The birdhouses were painted in very bright colors by the residents -- hopefully helping the residents to be cheerful & encouraging them as they watch the birds. The bench was handmade from scratch.
The residents were very grateful for the quality items that were built to withstand the rough weather conditions.
Eagle Project Title: VFW Post Ramp
Beneficiary: VFW Post 234248
Details: Levi decided that he wanted to do a Project for the local VFW Post.
The VFW Post has a Storage Trailer (a semi-trailer) that was very difficult for them to get into due to the height of the Trailer & lack of a safe way to access it. So the Post requested a 4' x 8' Platform with a Ramp be built at the back of the Trailer to allow them safer & more convenient access to the Trailer. Levi went to several businesses & family members to ask for donations & was able to fund his Project for the VFW Post.
The VFW Post was very grateful for the fabulous new Ramp & Platform that provides them with a much safer way to access their Storage Trailer!
(This was actually Levi's 2nd Project that he planned for the VFW Post. The 1st Project ran into Building Permit issues & needed to be passed on due to time constraints.)
Eagle Project Title: Peninsula Trail Extension
Beneficiary: Milwaukie Presbyterian Church
Details: Devin selected to do a Project for the Chartering Organization of our Troop, Milwaukie Presbyterian Church.
The area behind the church's rear parking lot is known as the Outdoor Sanctuary. Devin's Project was built in this part of the church's property.
His project consisted of:
creating a new 150' long Trail (for access to the new Bridge),
building a new 60' long Puncheon Bridge through a marshy wetland,
(A Puncheon Bridge is a walkway over wet ground made by laying planks or dressed timbers over sills set directly on the ground.)
adding Cedar Chips to 466' of existing Trails to create a more defined & uniform walking path.
Devin's Project allows people to have access to the Peninsula area in Kellogg Lake once again. Access to the Peninsula had been difficult in recent months due to the marshy area expanding. 4 yards of additional Cedar Chips were donated so additional Trails were covered as well as adding more Chips to the Playground area. Then 2 new Benches were also created, from extra materials, to go along the new Trail area.
Eagle Project Title: Fletcher's Eagle Project
Beneficiary: Alliance Charter Academy
Details: Fletcher chose to do a project at his school that included a staircase as part of a Trail & to gain access to a new area that wasn't accessible previously.

Eagle Project Title: Add Walkways to Improve Neighborhood Access to Church
Beneficiary: Milwaukie Presbyterian Church
Details: TJ selected a Project for Milwaukie Presbyterian Church - the Chartering Organization of our Troop.
The project opened up many new Walkways between the church (in front of the building) & the neighborhood. Previously, there were many, many bushes & plants between the church parking lot & the sidewalk in front of the church. In a way, this formed a bit of the barrier between the church and the neighborhood. The church also hosts many parking spaces to be used as 'Park & Ride' parking spaces, but the bushes made it difficult for people to get across to the Bus Stop or the sidewalk.
The project consisted of:
pulling out shrubs & bushes (including their root balls) that were planted between the church parking lot & the sidewalk in front of the church where the walkways were to be added,
removing approximately 6 inches of dirt for the walkways,
add some walkway barriers on the sides,
then back fill the walkways with gravel.
Eagle Project Title: Benches for Church Visitors
Beneficiary: Milwaukie Presbyterian Church
Details: Austin chose to do a Project for the Chartering Organization of our Troop, Milwaukie Presbyterian Church.
The project gave the church a much needed landscape re-design in front of the sanctuary. The church was looking for a welcoming place where visitors could sit to look at the garden area in front of the building.
The project consisted of placing 2 benches approximately 18 inches away from the wall in front of the church. They were placed evenly between the front window & the sides of the building. Ferns were planted around the benches to give a more natural look.
Eagle Project Title: Plant Identification Signs
Beneficiary: Milwaukie Presbyterian Church
Details: Trevor wanted to do a Project for the Chartering Organization of our Troop, Milwaukie Presbyterian Church.
The church owns all the property behind the rear parking lot that goes down toward Kellogg Lake. This area is known as the Outdoor Sanctuary. The church has been working for several years to remove invasive species of plants from all of this property.
Once the invasive plants were removed then the native plants were able to thrive. And as people started to visit the area, there were questions about the types of plants & animals found there. It was decided that some signs to label the plants would be nice.
There were some specific requirements (& restrictions) regarding what the signs could be made out of & they could not be permanently placed. So it was decided that some nice-sized, mostly flat stones with plant names painted on them could work nicely. They could be placed near the plants to label them then moved to other parts of the property or removed as needed.
Trevor decided that he wanted to use stones that were quarried locally in Oregon. He was also selective about the colors of the stones. Then he selected some nice earth-tone colors of paint to use on the stones to make the plant labels with.
They turned out very nicely!
Eagle Project Title: Raised Flower Beds for Horticultural Therapy
Beneficiary: Willamette View Retirement Community
Details: Joshua worked with Tara, the Horticultural Therapist from Willamette View. Tara's idea was to have some Raised Flower Beds for residents with limited mobility to use. Residents that have a garden or flower bed to tend are more active as a result. Tara asked for 19 Raised Bed Planters -- 3 being single Planter Bed frames & 8 being double Planter Bed frames. 5 of them at 'wheelchair height' & the rest at 'standing height' -- to be placed in an unused patio at the facility. Joshua took measurements to use for the 2 varied heights.
Joshua then worked to design the plans for the Raised Bed Planters. The Planters needed to hold concrete mixing tubs that would contain the soil. Joshua coordinated several workers over several different days to get the Planter Frames built & stained. The Planters were built with casters on the bottom so that they could be rolled around for easy moving or repositioning. But 'lockable' casters where used on the front of the Planters to prevent movement once the Planters were in place.
Joshua's project was started in the Fall then much wet & inclement weather took over to delay the work. But Joshua was able to take advantage of some dry days & get the Planters completed & delivered in early March. This allowed Tara to sign-up residents & get them organized for Spring planting.
Tara was very happy with the Raised Bed Planters. The Planters enabled people to be active caring for flowers or vegetables even when they could no longer get down to work in the dirt on the ground. (By bringing the dirt up to a height where they could be seated in a wheelchair or standing up beside the Planter.)
Tara had other Residents at the facility (that lived in apartments with a small patio) that wanted their own Planters as well. So Tara asked if Josh could create some printed design plans for others to use to build more Planters. Joshua's plans were converted into a PDF file & passed on to Tara for the other Residents.
Tara also attended a national conference of Horticultural Therapists on the East coast about 5 months later. She took Joshua's plans to use as part of her presentation at the conference. Then Tara was able to share the plans with other Therapists at the conference who took them back to use in their facilities in other states & cities.
Notice the last 2 pictures are of a Thank You Note that was received after the 2nd Year of use of the Raised Bed Planters by the Willamette View residents. They grew many vegetables & flowers in the Planters.
Eagle Project Title: Operation Winter Storm
Beneficiary: Holy Family School
Details: Matt chose to do his project for a school that he used to attend. Through the years, there were improvements made at the school that resulted in water runoff problems during the periods of heavy rain. Much of the water drainage would flow together & end up backing up toward the school. Eventually flowing down the stairs & into the downstairs hallways & classrooms. These areas have suffered damage a couple of different times in the past several years.
Matt planned & installed 2 in-ground drainage systems for 2 different areas of the campus. The drains allowed water to flow into them over a length of about 9 feet & were set level with the asphalt. The water then flowed into 4 inch ABS piping to carry the water away from the school. The drain pipes were connected to 'bubble drain's a reasonable distance out into the school field where the water was originally intended to flow naturally.
The school really appreciated Matt's project & the improved safety for the buildings that were previously endangered.
Eagle Project Title: Green Roof & Fencing for Compost Bin
Beneficiary: View Acres Elementary School
Details: Michael decided to do his Eagle Project for the Elementary School where he was a Cub Scout, View Acres Elementary School. The school had a Compost Bin & Generator that needed to be protected from the elements & the Students needed to be kept away to be safe as well. The school requested fencing around the Roof Supports to keep the Students at a safe distance & they wanted the Roof to have a 'green roof' covering.
Michael worked to collect donations for the Project, coordinated workers, & directed the work force to get the Project accomplished. A 'green roof' stores rain water & plants can then be grown on it. (If too much rain falls on the roof, then it will overflow into a gutter.)
Eagle Project Title: Oregon City Bible Chapel Playground Improvement
Beneficiary: Oregon City Bible Chapel
Details: Wyatt wanted to do a project for his church. When he spoke to the Beneficiary about doing a project for them, they settled on installing a concrete walkway with some stairs from the back of the church to the playground. This will make it safer for the children when conditions are wet or damp & cleaner in the church when the children come in after playing.
Eagle Project Title: Canyon Ranch Campsite Improvement
Beneficiary: Canyon Ranch Camp
Details: Austin wanted to do a project for 1 of our Troop's favorite places to go, Canyon Ranch Camp. The initial plan was for Austin to design & build 2 'walled' Kitchen areas for 2 campsites. But as things typically happen, before the Project got approved, the beneficiary changed what they wanted to 1 'walled' Kitchen area & 1 Outhouse.
To accomplish this Project, Austin learned how to use a CAD (computer-aided design) program to design his building plans. He showed the plans that he designed to the Beneficiary, Scoutmaster, & the Troop Committee as part of the Project Approval process. He was then able to lead a team of workers to 'pre_fab' most of his project at his father's workshop before taking the project parts to the camp for installation during a Troop Outing.
Eagle Project Title: Trout Creek Archery Deck & Roof
Beneficiary: Trout Creek Bible Camp
Details: Sam had worked at the Trout Creek Bible Camp for several years during the summers. He had worked in many different areas at the Camp. So Sam decided that he wanted to do his Eagle Project for this Camp.
Sam asked the Camp Director for an idea that he could develop to use as his Eagle Project. The first idea was to build a Retaining Wall & Stairs on a Trail to give better access to campers and prevent the hillside from sliding away. Sam put in a great deal of effort on this Project & got all of his approvals only to be met with the 'wet' part of the year. This meant that Sam could not do this Project without causing damage to the surrounding areas.
So at this point, Sam asked the Camp Director for a list of other Projects that could be worked on. It was from this list that Sam found the idea for the Archery Deck & Roof (Archery Station). Sam went through the planning phase once again & got more approvals. He then proceeded to coordinate workers to get his Project done around the Camp's busy schedule.
The Archery Station consisted of a platform for the campers to stand on as well as a roof overhead to keep the area dry. It is a wonderful addition to the Camp!
Eagle Project Title: Kiosks for City Park Trails
Beneficiary: City of Gresham, OR
Details: Gavin found a Project for the City of Gresham. There was a City Park that had many Trails through it. The City wanted to have 2 large Kiosks with Trail Signs at the 2 'main' entrances to the Trails.
Gavin obtained the needed supplies & built the large Signs for the City Park.
Eagle Project Title: Storage Shed for Tools & Toys
Beneficiary: My Father's House Family Shelter
Details: Sean decided to design & build a Storage Shed for My Father's House. It was going to be used for storing Yard Tools & some Kids Toys as well.
Eagle Project Title: Build & Install Benches for View Acres School
Beneficiary: View Acres Elementary School - North Clackamas School District
Details: Braden decided to do a Project for his former Elementary School. He used some 'frames' to build Benches for an Outdoor Classroom. These Benches were convertible so that they could convert into a seat & table surface for the students to use outside.
A Cub Scout Pack also meets at the school & they enjoy using the Benches a great deal as well.
Eagle Project Title: My Father's House Playground Improvement
Beneficiary: My Father's House Family Shelter
Details: James chose to do his Eagle Project for My Father's House (a Family Shelter). He decided to fix-up the Playground area for the Shelter. There was no Sidewalk to the Playground from the Patio area & the wooden Play Structure & Benches were in desperate need of a new coating of stain (or sealer).
James decided to do the following:
- Install a 5' x 10' rebar reinforced Concrete Sidewalk to the Playground
- Re-stain (seal) the wooden Play Structure & nearby Benches
- Use the Sidewalk (& rebar) to reinforce (secure) the loose Gate Post that was very wobbly
His Project worked well & was very much appreciated.
Eagle Project Title: Installation of Reinforced Pad for Dumpsters
Beneficiary: King Elementary School - Oregon City School District
Details: Daniel's father worked at this School & knew of the damaged (or broken) Pad where the Dumpsters were to be stored. It was unsafe for the Workers & Children at the school.
Daniel planned his Project to be a much thicker & stronger Concrete Pad for the Dumpsters to be stored on.
Eagle Project Title: Provide Fish Habitat for Baby Fish
Beneficiary: Oregon Dept of Fish and Wildlife
Details: John decided to do his Project for the Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife. Small, young, baby fish in the streams & creeks end up being easy pickings for birds to eat them. John's Project involved giving these baby fish some places to hide so that they can grow larger & survive.
The Project was to obtain 'extra' Christmas Trees, move them to the Stream area, tie them into bundles, float them into different positions, then anchor them in place. Thus giving the fish places to hide.
Eagle Project Title: Picnic Shelter for Ivor Davies Park
Beneficiary: Ivor Davies Park - City of Molalla, OR
Details: William's grandfather has had a Tree Farm & cut his own lumber for many years. For a long time, William had wanted to use some of his grandfather's lumber in some way as part of a Project that he could do for his Eagle Project.
William finally settled on a Picnic Shelter & started working with an architect (or engineer) to finalize a design & plan for his Shelter. Then he worked on tracking down the additional materials that would be needed (other than lumber).
Surprisingly, he started running into multiple issues with not being able to find a place (city, county, or park) to build it... William actually had worked with a few different locations & kept running into dead ends. But he was finally able to get connected with the City of Molalla & was able to build his project in 1 of their city parks.
William coordinated many workers (through hundreds of Service Hours) to create an incredible Shelter.
Eagle Project Title: Endeavor Church Playground
Beneficiary: Endeavor Church - Preschool Children
Details: Brady decided that he wanted to do his Project for his Church, Endeavor Church. He noticed that the area where the Preschool kids were playing was not fenced, didn't have any toys, the yard was in poor shape, & had lots of overgrown plants around the edges of the yard.
Brady decided that he wanted to do the following:
- Remove all of the overgrown plants & the grass that was in poor shape
- Build a fence around the play area
- Repair the broken Sprinkler system
- Put in Sod for the Kids to play on
- Purchase a plastic Play Structure for the kids to play with
The Preschool was very grateful & thankful for all of the wonderful improvements.
Eagle Project Title: Build a Foot Bridge & Create a New Access Trail
Beneficiary: Milwaukie Presbyterian Church
Details: Daniel wanted to do a Project for the Chartering Organization of our Troop, Milwaukie Presbyterian Church.
The church owns all the property behind the rear parking lot that goes down toward Kellogg Lake. The church was (& still is) working to remove invasive species of plants from all of this property. A big part of the problem was the limited access to the area.
There is also a peninsula that extends into the lake that needed a trail for access. A 30-36" wide trail (508' long) was cleared from a small creek bed to the end of the peninsula. There were some pieces of a 'crude' path in sections that were entirely overgrown by blackberry vines & English ivy. (The rest of the path had to be created from scratch.) A very simple foot bridge was also asked for to get over the small creek bed near the beginning of the peninsula.
As the trail was cleared, 4-5" of shredder chips were put down on the trail to prevent plant regrowth & maintain a natural look. Then a 'basic' foot bridge was added to allow for easier crossing of the creek bed.
This Bridge & Trail have been very useful to the workers who have been working to remove the invasive plant species.

Eagle Project Title: New Welcome Sign & Flower Bed Covers
Beneficiary: Milwaukie Museum
Details: This project benefited the community through the Milwaukie Museum. It provided needed improvements to the museum property that would not otherwise be possible due to a lack of funding.
The project consisted of constructing 7 new Flower Bed Covers & constructing a new carved Wood Sign for the Museum.
The Flower Bed Covers were built so they could be installed around the existing galvanized metal liners that contain the planting soil & plants. The new Museum Sign was built offsite then installed with concrete footers replacing the old sign.
